boxes in mce icons

Luke Bryan
Greetings all, I updated 3.8 beta and I notice it is making boxes around my
tinymce editors:
span.mce_justifycenter:before {

   1. content: '\f207';

Is this just for testing right now? What is the purpose of this box?

Best regards,

Luke

Re: boxes in mce icons

Otto-19
That's not a box, that's the icon in the mce toolbar for the center button.

See http://melchoyce.github.io/dashicons/ - dashicons-editor-aligncenter

Re: boxes in mce icons

Mika Epstein
If you're getting a box, kill your cache with fire and set these in
wp-config if that doesn't work:

define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);
define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false);

Is it possible it's not compatible with Firefox? My Firefox 25.0.1 is showing boxes all over that site :(

What "boxes" are you talking about, exactly? It's hard to understand what
you mean when we don't see it ourselves.

Firefox 25.0.1 on Windows 8 works fine for me with the latest 3.8. I see no
"boxes".

Re: boxes in mce icons

Otto-19
Wait, I just figured out you meant on the dashicons demo site. Yes, I see
the same thing, however my local WordPress 3.8 install looks fine and shows
the font properly.

Might be an old version on the demo site. I'll ping Mel about it.

Re: boxes in mce icons

Dobri
In reply to this post by Otto-19
Sorry, I meant Firefox doesn't recognize the font or something. I checked my Windows 7 and the mac I work on and both don't render the icons on Firefox 25.0.1. Doesn't seem to be a cache issue, I deleted it multiple times in both. I don't know if attachments work on this mailing list but I'll give it a shot.

It looks like it's an encoding issue. On wp dashboard it seems ok, though
on another page tips flag is the [ ] box, or [ ] box with number in it, in
Firefox.

Can you be more specific? I mean, this is something that we can probably
fix, with additional details.

Re: boxes in mce icons

In reply to this post by Luke Bryan
Looking into the problem more, I found out using Firefox Font inspector,
that the box icons are a special font: Dashicons Regular (remote).
The nonworking one just was Times New Roman.
Is there a guide on correctly enqueueing this font system, to see the icons
correctly on my pages?

Thanks,
Luke

Re: boxes in mce icons

Wait, are you referring to using WP_Editor on the front-end of your site?
Because we fixed this last night:
